Okay, so having said that i decided i would give the treadmill a try during the winter. Man, if I hate running, i hate running on a treadmill even more. Boring. BOR-ING. So boring. I also wanted to give it a try because spin class was hurting my neck a ton (past car accident) and i had overheard random people talking about how running was the only thing that took the weight off, blah blah blah. So, i am trying it.
I am starting the old fashion way and just working up. I started running this last week and doing only a mile. This week I started to push it up to a mile and a half. This is huge for me because again, so boring. And, if anyone has any fun songs to download to my ipod, i am all ears.
Today I hauled all three kids to the gym to make it there by 9:00 am and I ran, did the stair thing, lifted weights and went to half a pilates class. i seriously got my can kicked in pilates class. It was ridiculous. It was a nice excuse to bail and go feed Ella.
And, speaking of nursing, i got my period back a couple weeks ago. I couldn't believe it! I ONLY nurse, no bottles, not even any pumping. I thought i was supposed to go a whole year without my friend. I can tell my milk supply is tanking and it could be a combo of not enough food, period, pre-period, whatever. Pick one, I am sure it isn't helping.
anyway, if anyone has any tips or jokes, send them my way!

Yay a post!!!
I hate running too. The endorphins never kick in for me DURING the run but I do get a post-running high which can be amazingly euphoric and can last for a couple of hours....seriously. Although I'm pretty sure that euphoric feeling is just my body's was of saying thank you FOR NO LONGER RUNNING!
BTW, I went running at the gym today...only about the third time since returning from BM last Sept. 2.5 miles @ about an 8 min pace and I was pooped. Blah! I just keep reminding myself that I'm worth the effort!
Hang in there with the running--it took me full year before I even somewhat liked running. Now I really enjoy it and actually go somewhat batty when I can't go for a run.
I agree about the treadmill 100%! I do NOT heart running on the treadmill. I'm glad the snow is melting so that I can get outside again. I do find it easier to go over to the gym, park in their parking lot, and then run on the nice walking trails in LL. Wish we had sidewalks/paved trails in our neighborhood.
Fun songs for the iPod? Well, I find that I prefer 80's hard rock to keep me motivated. I'm embarrassed to admit that I have Bon Jovi, AC/DC and Pat Benatar on mine--to name just a few.
If you would just move back to California we could be running buddies! I've fallen off the wagon and need some motivation to get moving.
You can try the "Rama lama ding dong" song. That will keep you moving for a while.
I like to run, but only in 60 degree weather or hotter. So I do the recumbent bike. I LOVE IT! Come down and use it anytime:) Only 2.6 lbs to go and so I biked 1 hour at 6 am and 1 hour at 2 pm and hopefully do the same for the next 10 days so that I make my goal before the cruise::)) YIKES!
Looks like you are still working hard. Today, I went for a long walk (to try to get this baby out, oh, and it was 79 degrees outside) and it was the first time in my life I felt like running! Ok, jogging. I think it was just because I want this baby out sooooooooo bad. Unfortunately, I couldn't because, well, it would have been awkward since this baby is at a -2 station right between my legs!!!!
Hang in there! It usually takes about 3 to 4 weeks of consistantly running most days to finally get that "I didn't hate that run today...." And the endorphins don't ever kick in for me until about 30 minutes into whatever it is that I'm doing. For Mother's day last year Coby bought me a heart rate monitor that shows how many calories I burn...and that was a super great motivator to just keep going. My favorite songs to run to are "I need a hero" from "Footloose" , "Lose yourself" from dare I say it..."eminem"...the clean version and Alot from Blink 182 (all their songs sound the same... :) ) And I love "Since you've been gone" by Kelly Clarkson. Hope that helps. I'm doing a triathlon in November...so you I think you should do it with me!! :)
You should look into P90X. I just started it 2 weeks ago and have lost 2 inches and 4 pounds. In 2 weeks!!! I have lost weight by running after 3 other pregnancies, and this is waaaay better. So worth the money!
Your mind has great power and influence in how you tackle this running thing. Of course you are going to hate it at first and find it boring, not mention painful. But if you stick it out, you will reap the rewards and even find joy in it. Find a local 5K to run in the Spring or early summer. It should be motivational enough. I hate the treadmill..outdoors is my thing. As to the i-Pod thing...would you consider listening to podcasts? There are so many great talks you can listen to or books on CD. I know, BORING, but it works for me. I am also nerdy enough to listen to the scriptures my first 15 minutes and then I listen to whatever music gets me going. But, most of the time I don't listen to anything, except my heart rate and breathing. I like to keep it at a certain pace. Really, your thoughts have great influence on your attitude. Find a new way of thinking, change your regime and develope a new attitude. Take the time to focus on other things, control your mind! This is what I love about running. I have developed more control over my thoughts in other aspects of my life because of running. Ok, I have said enough. I should have made this one a posting on my blog for you!! heeheee!! Keep running and don't give up! Wish you were here to join our running/walking group in the Spring!
P.S Perhaps you need to find yourself a running partner!
I really dislike running as well. And I'm kind of jealous of the people who love it... But, as soon as this baby is born, I'll get to doing something since, I'm already feeling pretty fat. And I know that being pregnant is an excuse for a bit but, before long, that excuse turns into, "oh don't worry, you'll lose that wait, if you work a little at it"- I'm not looking forward to that! Anywho, I wish you the best of luck and as long as you're doing something, you get an A plus in my book!
